Information from the abstract
The ASEAN space economy is entering a rapid growth phase toward 2035, alongside a global market projected to reach USD 1.8 trillion. ASEAN’s share is expected to scale to approximately USD 80–200 billion, driven by three key engines: Earth Observation (EO) commercialization, SATCOM expansion via high-throughput systems, and rising demand for ISR and Space Domain Awareness (SDA). EO in Southeast Asia alone is projected to triple to USD 45 billion by 2030. Thailand is positioned as a regional hub through THEOS-2, Thaicom platforms, national space policy, and a multi-orbit spaceport strategy enabling upstream and downstream integration. Using a bottom-up forecast model aligned with the Space Capacity Ladder (SCL), ASEAN is expected to sustain a 4.4–11.1% share of the global space economy by 2035, led by Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
