Information from the abstract
Pristaulacus erythrocephalus Cameron, 1905 Figs 3, 4 Material examined. • 1 ♂, Thailand: Songkhla, Ban Na Prang, outskirts, hand net, 31.iii.2021, CCDB-06324-E 10, BBTH 2296-21, BOLD: AEM 1243, D. L. J. Quicke leg. (CUMZ). • 1 ♀, Thailand, Trang, Khao Pu-Khao Ya National Park, 7°32.534'N, 99°47.856'E, 145 m, Malaise trap, 14–21.iv.2006, M. Sharkey leg., T 1982 (HIC). Diagnosis. Large species, body length 16.0–22.0 mm, excluding ovipositor (♀); 14.2 mm (♂); antenna length: 8.9 mm; fore wing length: 10.8 mm; head and mesosoma reddish orange, propodeum, ventral half of metapleuron, mid and hind legs black; setae reddish goldish to brownish throughout; blackish on propodeum; head 1.3 × wider than long, shiny, vertex with fine, deep and dense to very dense punctures; gena, from above, well developed, occipital margin almost straight, occipital carina, narrow, rim-like; mesosoma almost entirely areolate-rugose; lateroventral margin of pronotum with one well developed, acute, forwarded tooth-like process, posterior corner angulate, produced into a weak, obtuse, stout tooth like process; anterior margin of mesonotum, in lateral view, squared, very slightly overhanging pronotum; hind coxa stout and flattened, 2.0 × longer than wide, transverse-carinate-punctate dorsally, polished-punctate ventrally; tarsal claw with four tooth-like processes; metasoma pyriform, slightly compressed laterally; petiole stout, 2.3 × longer than wide; ovipositor length 1.3 × fore wing length. Distribution. Indonesia (West Kalimantan), Malaysia (Sarawak, Sabah, Pahang states), Philippines (Luzon), Thailand (Loei, Songkhla and Trang provinces) (Cameron 1905; Smith 2001, 2017 a; Turrisi 2017; Pham et al. 2024; Turrisi 2025). Host. Unknown. Molecular data. The DNA barcode of the Thai specimen differs by 18.51 % from the closest Aulacidae sequence in BOLD (BOLD: AFR 2955), which corresponds to P. chiangmaiensis. In contrast, our genetic distance analysis showed a 21.19 % divergence between P. erythrocephalus and P. compressus (Suppl. material 1: table S 2), which was not congruent with the phylogenetic tree. Remarks. This species has recently been recorded from Thailand (Turrisi 2025); it belongs to the Pristaulacus flavipennis species-group (Turrisi 2025).
