Purpose A teacher feedback literacy (TFL) measurement tool that is both reliable and valid is highly important to collect data used for designing an effective TFL development program and to prepare student teachers before they start teaching professionally. We, therefore, developed and examined the psychometric properties of the Teacher Feedback Literacy Test for Student Teachers (TFL-ST), intended to be used as a tool to measure TFL levels to support student teachers' development. Design/methodology/approach The TFL-ST is a situational test comprising 20 multiple-choice items that assess different dimensions, i.e. 10 items for the design dimension, 4 for the relational dimension and 6 for the pragmatic dimension. The psychometric properties of the TFL-ST were evaluated using responses from 552 Thai student teachers in their second and third years of undergraduate studies, focusing on primary and secondary education. Findings The TFL-ST demonstrates good psychometric properties, whether they are item parameters, content validity, construct validity and internal consistency reliability. Originality/value The developed TFL-ST can accurately measure student teachers' TFL.
