Using slow media such as print literature in ministerial formation develops skills of attentiveness and agency for emerging pastoral ministers. In a digital context, fostering these skills and dispositions benefits ministers in formation to bring a mindful and intentional presence to pastoral ministry and pastoral care. Showcasing a literature-based assignment from a graduate-level pastoral ministry class, this essay explores how reading literature has a formative impact on ministry students developing these skills and dispositions.
