Dicharax Kobelt & Möllendorff, 1900 Alycaeus (Dicharax) Kobelt & Möllendorff, 1900: 186 (replacement name for Charax Benson, 1859, non Charax Scopoli, 1777 [Pisces]). Dicharax – Jirapatrasilp et al. 2021: 4. Páll-Gergely et al. 2021: 21. Gittenberger et al. 2024: 199. Matsuda and Yano 2024: 3. Páll-Gergely et al. 2025: 50. Type species. Alycaeus hebes Benson, 1857, by subsequent designation (Gude 1921: 236). Remarks. This genus is diagnosed by a low protoconch, and the entire shell lacking spiral striation. This genus comprises nearly 200 species and is widely distributed from the Western Ghats of India and in the southwestern and southeastern Himalayan region to Japan, through the Malay Peninsula to the southern arc of the Malay Archipelago up to Sumatra and Java (Páll-Gergely et al. 2020 d).
