Information from the abstract

Pincerna vanbuensis (Bavay & Dautzenberg, 1900) Fig. 9 Alycaeus (Dyorix [sic]) vanbuensis Bavay & Dautzenberg, 1900: 120. Type locality: Van Bu [Son La Province, Vietnam]. Alycaeus vanbuensis – Inkhavilay et al. 2019: 13, fig. 4 c – e. Pincerna vanbuensis – Do and Nguyen 2022: 369, 372, figs 3 a – e, 6 e. Pincerna (?) vanbuesis – Páll-Gergely 2023 b: 269–272, figs 3 h, i, 12, 14 g. Material examined. Laos • 5 shells; Houaphanh Province, Viengxay District, Ban Hang Long village; 20°27'38.7"N, 104°10'28.6"E; 840 m a. s. l.; 6 Oct. 2022; leg. K. Inkhavilay; CUMZ 14485 (Fig. 9). Diagnosis. R 1 ~ 3 ¾ whorls with regular, fine radial ribs. R 2 ~ ¼ whorl and nearly as long as R 3; R 2 with very fine and close-set ribs. R 3 with less distinct ribs; apertural tube coiling slightly oblique to horizontal axis of the shell, expanding near the end of the aperture. Inner peristome blunt, slightly protruding. Outer peristome thickened, multilayered, expanded, slightly reflected. Umbilicus mostly closed by the expanded columellar extension of outer peristome. Differential diagnosis. See Páll-Gergely (2023 b: 270). Distribution. Southern China, northern Vietnam; Luang Prabang, Luang Namtha, Khammouane (Páll-Gergely 2023 b), and Houaphanh provinces, Laos. Remarks. Samples from different localities are variable in shell size, density, and strength of R 1 ribs, and the extent of close umbilicus in shells with narrower body whorl (Páll-Gergely 2023 b). See earlier taxonomic treatment of P. vanbuensis in Do and Nguyen (2022) and Páll-Gergely (2023 b).
