Laos • 139 shells; Vientiane Province, Feuang District, unnamed limestone hill (loc. MF 1); 18°40'29.2"N, 102°02'18.4"E; 320 m a. s. l.; 7 Oct. 2024; leg. CU - NUOL expedition team; CUMZ 14480 (Figs 5 A, 6) • 34 shells; Vientiane Province, Feuang District, Pha Reung (loc. MF 14); 18°44'20.4"N, 102°07'02.9"E; 360 m a. s. l.; 10 Oct. 2024; leg. CU - NUOL expedition team; CUMZ 14481. Diagnosis. Shell depressed-conical. Spire ~ 1 / 5 of shell height. R 1 with regular ribs; R 2 as long as or slightly shorter than R 3. R 3 with sharp or moderately sharp swelling, in the middle of R 3 or close to the aperture. Inner peristome sometimes with conspicuous upper incision. Outer peristome expanded, not reflected. Differential diagnosis. See Páll-Gergely et al. (2017: 43). Distribution. Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi provinces, China; northern Vietnam; Luang Prabang Province (Páll-Gergely et al. 2017), and Feuang District, Vientiane Province, Laos. Remarks. The current species boundary of D. cristatus based on morphological characters is wide, varying in shell size, spire height (flat to somewhat elevated), peristome (strongly crenulated to not crenulated), R 1 sculpture (smooth to regularly ribbed), and the absence or presence or the position of the swelling on R 3. Therefore, there are no unique set of characters unequivocally defining D. cristatus (Páll-Gergely et al. 2017). It is possible that future molecular studies may show that this nominal taxon contains multiple lineages. See earlier taxonomic treatment of D. cristatus in Páll-Gergely et al. (2017, 2020 d).
