Application of quantitative risk assessment for respirable dust and crystalline silica exposure among ceramic workers in Thailand

Ceramic workers are exposed to hazardous workplace factors, particularly respirable dust (RD) and respirable crystalline silica (RCS), which are associated with adverse respiratory health effects. This cross-sectional study assessed RD and RCS concentrations in different departments of a ceramic factory and evaluated workers’ knowledge, attitudes, and self-protective behaviors using structured questionnaires. Health risk assessment was performed using deterministic and probabilistic approaches. Non-carcinogenic risk was evaluated using the Hazard Quotient (HQ), while carcinogenic risk was assessed using Excess Lifetime Cancer Risk (ELCR). RD concentrations ranged from
