One-part alkali-activated composites offer a promising pathway for developing sustainable construction materials while overcoming the handling limitations associated with conventional two-part alkali-activated systems. This study investigates the influence of different surface-treated natural fibres and their dosages on the engineering, durability, microstructural, elevated-temperature, and sustainability performance of one-part alkali-activated fibre-reinforced composites (OPAAFRCs). Kenaf, sisal, flax, ramie, and abaca fibres were incorporated at 0.5% and 1.0% by volume. Mechanical and durability properties were experimentally evaluated, together with residual performance at elevated temperatures, while SEM, EDX, FTIR, and XRD analyses were employed for microstructural characterisation. Embodied energy and embodied carbon were also assessed to quantify sustainability performance. The results showed that fibre type and dosage considerably influenced the overall behaviour of the composites. Among the fibre-reinforced mixtures, OPAAFRC-2 containing 0.5% kenaf fibre exhibited the best overall performance, achieving a 28-day compressive strength of 63 MPa, flexural strength of 5.60 MPa, splitting tensile strength of 4.45 MPa, and modulus of elasticity of 33.0 GPa, while maintaining low water absorption (0.74%). Mixtures containing 0.5% fibre also generally exhibited better residual performance at 600 °C than their 1.0% counterparts. Microstructural observations supported improved fibre–matrix interaction, while the sustainability assessment indicated a moderate increase in embodied energy and only a limited change in embodied carbon. The findings demonstrate that appropriate selection of natural fibre type and dosage can provide a viable strategy for developing high-performance, durable, and environmentally sustainable one-part alkali-activated composites for construction applications.
