Workplace discrimination against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Queer (LGBTIQ+) individuals remains a significant challenge in the management of human resources in Thailand, despite the country’s positive global reputation on LGBTIQ+ rights and tangible legal advancements such as the recognition of same-sex marriage. This study defines the types of discrimination faced by LGBTIQ+ employees in the business sector and investigates how these individuals, directly and indirectly, confront workplace discrimination. Data were collected from 22 individuals who work to promote gender diversity policies. They all engage with workplace gender policies and play various roles in promoting LGBTIQ+ rights in Thailand. The results show three prominent types of workplace discrimination: Institutional Discrimination, Microaggressions, and Covert Discrimination. All of them are interconnected with the lack of ongoing policies to promote workplace diversity, intersectionality of workplace culture issues, and poor engagement with LGBTIQ+ staff. Thai business organisations can create a more equitable and respectful work environment by implementing regulations and policies against discrimination. This includes explicitly addressing LGBTIQ+ rights in the company’s code of conduct and ensuring anti-discrimination policies are easily accessible to all employees. Additionally, reviewing and updating these policies to reflect evolving views on gender diversity is essential.
