A therapeutic-based professional development model for enhancing emotional regulation and positive discipline in early-career teachers in Thai schools

A professional-development project with 120 early-career teachers integrated CBT, MBSR, trauma-informed care and EFT concepts and reported improved emotional regulation and reduced punitive discipline.

01

Key findings

  • Significant improvements in emotional regulation and reductions in punitive discipline were reported, alongside a five-component model and peer-coaching, PLC and mental-health supports; the abstract did not report effect sizes.
02

Why this matters globally

The work connects teacher wellbeing with classroom discipline and suggests professional learning should include peer and mental-health supports rather than placing responsibility on individuals alone.

03

Thai researcher contribution
