Geographical Origin Drives Metabolic Divergence in Styphnolobium japonicum cv. Jinhuai: A Widely Targeted Metabolomic Study of Flower Buds from Sichuan and Guangxi, China

This UPLC–MS/MS study profiles Styphnolobium japonicum cv. Jinhuai flower buds from Sichuan and Guangxi, China, seeking chemical fingerprints and origin markers for raw-material quality control.

Key findings

  • The study reported 1,550 metabolites across 12 classes, dominated by flavonoids. Guangxi samples were richer in lipids and nucleotides, whereas Sichuan samples had more flavonoids and phenolic acids. Three compounds were highlighted as inter-group markers.

With replication across seasons, farms and independent samples, the fingerprint could support origin authentication and standardisation of medicinal or functional-food raw materials.
