Diagnostic accuracy of reticulocyte haemoglobin content in detecting iron deficiency without anaemia in blood donors: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

A systematic review and diagnostic meta-analysis of 13 studies and 5,853 blood donors evaluated reticulocyte haemoglobin content for iron deficiency without anaemia. Pooled sensitivity was 0.70 and specificity 0.85, but certainty was very low to low, insufficient for widespread standalone screening.

Mechanism of injury influences early microbial trajectories and infection pathways in open fractures: A 16S rDNA study

A prospective cohort of 155 patients with open fractures used deep-tissue 16S rDNA profiling to examine whether sharp versus blunt injury mechanisms were associated with different early microbial communities and pathways toward fracture-related infection. Overall infection rates did not differ, but early community patterns did.

Sonographic Measurements of the Interscapular Soft Tissue for Rhomboid Major Trigger Point Injection in Thai Population

This study used ultrasound in 84 healthy volunteers to measure skin-to-rhomboid and skin-to-pleura distances and derive BMI- and sex-stratified reference margins for trigger-point injection when real-time ultrasound is unavailable. The aim is risk reduction, not proof that landmark-guided injection is equivalent to image guidance.

Ethanolic Leaf Extract of Annona muricata Pauses Plasmodium knowlesi Schizogony and Reduces Binding of Infected Red Blood Cells to Endothelial Cells

In vitro experiments evaluated ethanolic soursop-leaf extract against zoonotic Plasmodium knowlesi. The extract inhibited blood-stage development with a reported IC50 of 9.65 micrograms per milliliter and reduced binding of infected red blood cells to endothelial cells. The effect was parasitostatic rather than parasite-killing and is not evidence of efficacy in patients.
