Understanding women's knowledge and perceived benefits of vaginal birth and caesarean section: A multi-country survey from the QUALI-DEC project

A cross-sectional survey of 3,127 postpartum women in 32 hospitals across Argentina, Burkina Faso, Thailand and Viet Nam analyzed open-ended views of birth modes. Vaginal birth was most often valued for faster recovery and shorter stay (85.7%) and better mobility (55.7%). Caesarean section was commonly framed as avoiding labor pain (49.2%), emergency caesarean (26%) or instrumental birth (22.4%), rather than for intrinsic benefits.

Mechanical Performance and Compressive Behaviour of Plastic Waste–Based Brick under Horizontal and Vertical Loading Orientations

Bricks containing 20-50% plastic waste were tested under horizontal and vertical compression after 3, 7 and 10 days. Horizontal strength rose with plastic content, reaching 30.15 MPa for the 50% mix at day 10 versus 22.74 MPa for conventional brick. Vertical strength remained only 1.08-1.22 MPa, below the 2.48 MPa control. A composite orientation-sensitive index therefore selected the 40% mix as the better balance.

Clinical and Laboratory Features of Scrub Typhus among Adult Patients with Acute Febrile Illness in Tak and Nakhon Phanom Provinces, Thailand, 2017–2020

Acute-febrile-illness surveillance from 2017-2020 identified 75 scrub-typhus cases: 39 confirmed and 36 probable. Prevalence was 6.9% in Tak versus 1.3% in Nakhon Phanom, while discharge diagnoses matched the study classification only 15% of the time. About one-quarter had coinfections. In Tak, recent forest visits and farm-animal contact were associated with 4.2- and 4.5-fold higher positivity.

AI Adoption Pathways for Hong Kong SMEs: A Readi-ness-Based Model for Achieving Expected Outcomes in Business Development

Grounded in the Resource-Based View, this paper proposes that talent readiness, financial access and change management shape expected business outcomes from AI. It outlines Pearson and partial-correlation tests for a target sample of 150 Hong Kong SMEs and defines transformational, incremental, futile and stagnant pathways. The report is a theoretical model and analysis plan, not completed empirical validation, so its relationships should be treated as hypotheses.

Competição jurisdicional no mercado de padrões tecnológicos

This doctrinal analysis examines forum competition in standard-essential patent and FRAND disputes. Territorial patent rights allow both patentees and implementers to select favorable courts for rates, injunctions and licensing conduct. It revisits Huawei v ZTE, compares anti-suit and related injunctions across major jurisdictions and discusses the WTO China intellectual-property enforcement dispute, ultimately advocating transparency, judicial restraint and comity.

Safety and immunogenicity testing of a melioidosis subunit vaccine candidate in cynomolgus macaques

A melioidosis subunit vaccine combining CPS-CRM197 and His-tagless Hcp1 with Alhydrogel plus CpG was evaluated in cynomolgus macaques. It induced CPS-specific IgG, opsonizing antibodies, Hcp1-specific IgG and measurable IFN-gamma T-cell responses. Three doses were well tolerated with no reported adverse events, and antigen production was designed to be GMP-compatible. This supports clinical development but does not yet demonstrate protection in humans.

Clinical predictors of impaired pulmonary diffusing capacity in patients recovering from COVID-19: A secondary analysis of multicentre datasets

A secondary analysis of 572 post-COVID-19 adults found impaired DLCO in 145, about one-quarter of the sample. Multivariable analysis retained age, sex and total lung capacity; age had an adjusted OR of 1.025 and TLC 0.603. Apparent discrimination was modest-to-acceptable (AUC 0.710) in the development data. These are exploratory associations, not an externally validated prediction tool.

Molecular Identification and Familial Segregation of the Hb Malay (HBB:c.59A>G) Variant in a Three-Generation Indonesian Family

Cascade screening of 16 members of a three-generation Indonesian family used a GenoArray panel and Sanger confirmation. Hb Malay (HBB:c.59A>G) was found in 13: 12 heterozygous carriers and one homozygous 15-year-old; three had normal genotypes. The pedigree was consistent with autosomal-recessive inheritance, and no panel-covered alpha-globin deletions were detected. The report illustrates family cascade testing where hemoglobin fractionation is unavailable.
