Enhancing the Postharvest Life of Cucumber and Papaya Using Bionanofibers Extracted from Agricultural Wastes

Researchers extracted cellulose nanofibers from rice-husk pulp and chitin nanofibers from shrimp-shell pulp as coatings for cucumbers and papayas. Under normal-atmosphere storage, coated cucumbers reportedly remained fresh for up to four weeks and papayas for three weeks, versus 5–14 days uncoated, with less weight loss and new microbial growth. Safety, sensory quality, cost and real supply-chain replication remain to be established.

Dual Mechanisms of Apigenin and Luteolin Against Dengue Virus Serotype 2: Allosteric Inhibition of NS2B/NS3 Protease and Interference with Host C-Type Lectin Receptor-Mediated Entry

PASS, SwissADME, ProTox and docking predicted favourable properties for luteolin and apigenin, with calculated NS2B-NS3 allosteric binding of -7.74 and -7.67 kcal/mol and interactions with host C-type lectin receptors. All findings are computational; no enzyme, infected-cell, animal or patient antiviral activity was demonstrated.

Design and Performance Development of a Biomass-Fueled Herbal Steam Generation System Using Melaleuca leucadendra for Community Therapeutic Applications

A biomass stove and steam generator for the U-Tapao basin improved thermal efficiency and reduced boiling time versus traditional methods. Field trials in two steam-room configurations sustained about 40°C for 30-35 minutes.

Digital infrastructure, intellectual property, and urban economic resilience: evaluating the synergistic effects of “Broadband China” and “Intellectual Property” pilot policies

Panel data from 281 Chinese cities in 2007-2022 and multi-period difference-in-differences associated Broadband China, IP demonstration and dual pilots with stronger urban economic resilience. The dual policy was largest, and broadband-before-IP outperformed the reverse sequence.

Characteristics, management, and outcomes of segmental and subsegmental pulmonary embolism in ICU patients: A retrospective cohort study

Researchers reviewed 896 CT pulmonary angiograms from 804 ICU patients between January 2019 and June 2025. Pulmonary embolism was identified in 164 examinations, while 104 patients had segmental or subsegmental embolism without a more proximal clot. Anticoagulation was given to 96% of this group and 86% of treated patients received therapeutic dosing. At 90 days, bleeding occurred in 15%, major bleeding in 12%, recurrent venous thromboembolism in 7.8% and mortality in 24%.

Progression of mild traumatic brain injury with intracranial hemorrhage: a retrospective study of associated factors in patients managed conservatively in the emergency department

Among 114 adults with GCS 13-15, intracranial haemorrhage, conservative management and repeat CT, 26 (22.8%) progressed to admission or neurosurgical intervention. Midline shift, systolic blood pressure ≥160, multiple haemorrhages and GCS 13-14 were independently associated. These are triage signals, not an externally validated rule.

Gastric mucosal brushing enhances gastric microbiome profiling compared with conventional biopsy in gastric cancer

Paired samples from treatment-naïve gastric-cancer patients and controls showed substantially higher richness and diversity with mucosal brushing than biopsy. Brushing detected lower diversity and altered composition in cancer, whereas biopsy did not. Sampling method shapes microbiome signals, but causation and diagnostic utility are unproven.

First report and molecular characterization of gizzard erosion-associated fowl adenovirus serotype 8a in Thailand

Gizzard lesions in Thai chickens contained intranuclear inclusions, in-situ hybridization signal and PCR-confirmed fowl adenovirus. Hexon and fibre sequencing identified FAdV-8a strain FAdV8a_NPT_KU001_25, closer to a gizzard-tropic than an inclusion-body-hepatitis strain. Association is supported, but causation remains unproven.

HLA allele profiling and association in Thai patients with confirmed beta-lactam hypersensitivity: an NGS-based analysis

An exploratory case-control study of 37 Thai adults with confirmed beta-lactam hypersensitivity identified HLA-DQA1*01:04 and HLA-DQA1*05:05 candidate signals after Bonferroni correction, with the latter stronger for immediate reactions. Small size, population controls and sensitivity-instability mean the findings are not ready for screening or drug avoidance.
