Pristaulacus vietnamensis Turrisi & Smith 2011

The treatment revisits Pristaulacus vietnamensis, whose holotype is from Viet Nam, and documents female specimens from Loei, Lampang and Chaiyaphum in Thailand. Diagnostic traits include a 9-10 mm mostly black body, a dark forewing spot, a very long petiole, an ovipositor 1.3 times forewing length and a four-toothed tarsal claw. The material broadens its cross-border distribution, while the host remains unknown.

Safety and immunogenicity testing of a melioidosis subunit vaccine candidate in cynomolgus macaques

A melioidosis subunit vaccine combining CPS-CRM197 and His-tagless Hcp1 with Alhydrogel plus CpG was evaluated in cynomolgus macaques. It induced CPS-specific IgG, opsonizing antibodies, Hcp1-specific IgG and measurable IFN-gamma T-cell responses. Three doses were well tolerated with no reported adverse events, and antigen production was designed to be GMP-compatible. This supports clinical development but does not yet demonstrate protection in humans.

Clinical predictors of impaired pulmonary diffusing capacity in patients recovering from COVID-19: A secondary analysis of multicentre datasets

A secondary analysis of 572 post-COVID-19 adults found impaired DLCO in 145, about one-quarter of the sample. Multivariable analysis retained age, sex and total lung capacity; age had an adjusted OR of 1.025 and TLC 0.603. Apparent discrimination was modest-to-acceptable (AUC 0.710) in the development data. These are exploratory associations, not an externally validated prediction tool.

Molecular Identification and Familial Segregation of the Hb Malay (HBB:c.59A>G) Variant in a Three-Generation Indonesian Family

Cascade screening of 16 members of a three-generation Indonesian family used a GenoArray panel and Sanger confirmation. Hb Malay (HBB:c.59A>G) was found in 13: 12 heterozygous carriers and one homozygous 15-year-old; three had normal genotypes. The pedigree was consistent with autosomal-recessive inheritance, and no panel-covered alpha-globin deletions were detected. The report illustrates family cascade testing where hemoglobin fractionation is unavailable.

Metal–Organic Framework Composite Piezoelectric Nanofibers for Wireless Tumor Treating Fields Therapy

Mn-Ti bimetallic MOF was incorporated into electrospun polyacrylonitrile nanofibers to generate localized electric fields under mechanical stimulation. Ultrasound produced a reported 0.35-V output, accompanied by alternating fields, tumor-cell apoptosis and good compatibility with normal cells. In vivo experiments suppressed glioblastoma growth. The concept remains preclinical and requires long-term implant safety and treatment-control studies.

The hidden infectious disease-related sepsis risk of wildfire-specific PM2.5

A time-series analysis across 1,024 communities in seven countries or territories during 2000-2019 included 2.3 million infectious-disease-related sepsis hospitalizations. Each 10 micrograms/m3 increase in wildfire-specific PM2.5 was associated with a 1.5% increase in hospitalization risk (RR 1.015, 95% CI 1.007-1.024), nearly twice the reported non-wildfire estimate. Associations were strongest in children and adolescents.

Near-Infrared Hyperspectral Imaging to Predict Intact Sweet Tamarind Fruit Quality

Near-infrared hyperspectral imaging at 935-1720 nm was combined with chemometrics and machine learning to predict total soluble solids, titratable acidity and their ratio in intact sweet tamarind. Optimized SVM regression models achieved prediction correlations of 0.959, 0.961 and 0.957, respectively. An SVM classifier separated fruit by the commercial acidity threshold with 82.86% accuracy. The results support nondestructive sorting, pending broader seasonal and cultivar validation.

Method comparison and clinical classification agreement between Freelite and N-Latex serum-free light chain assays for clinical laboratory implementation

In 33 paired residual sera, Freelite produced significantly higher free-kappa values than N-Latex, while lambda did not differ significantly. Correlations were strong (rho 0.897 and 0.951), but Passing-Bablok analysis showed proportional kappa bias and Bland-Altman limits widened at extreme concentrations. Using assay-specific reference intervals, kappa/lambda classification agreed in 30 of 33 samples (91%; kappa 0.79). Numerical results are therefore not directly interchangeable.

Of Biomedicine and Barami: Melioidosis and the Politics of Visibility in Global Health

This medical-anthropology article examines how melioidosis moved from obscurity to becoming a visible object of evidence in global health. Focusing on Thai research and policy spaces, it argues that scientific knowledge is produced alongside barami, a culturally specific form of social capital. These relationships raise the visibility of researchers, the disease and its research sites at national and international levels.

Proof-of-concept development of a cost-effective PACE-based assay for CYP2C19 genotyping

A PCR Allelic Competitive Extension assay for CYP2C19*2, *3 and *17 was tested on 30 DNA samples against TaqMan. Concordance was 100%, with clear genotype clusters. Genotypes were *1/*1 53.3%, *1/*2 30.0%, *1/*3 10.0% and *2/*2 6.7%; *17 was absent. Reagent cost was reported as USD 4.34 or THB 135 per sample. This is encouraging proof of concept, not yet broad clinical validation.

Using Camera Trapping to Assess the Status of the Mammalian Community in the Mafou Fully Protected Area, Upper Niger National Park (Guinea)

During the January-May 2025 dry season, 53 cameras sampled the Mafou Fully Protected Area in Guinea for 4,239 camera-days. They yielded 10,334 usable files and 2,634 independent detections, documenting 30 taxa from 15 families and five orders, including six species of conservation concern. The assemblage included prey, mesopredators and apex predators, despite a notable human-activity index.

Artificial Intelligence-Based Evaluation of Brain–Tactile Interaction Using Electroencephalographic Signals and a Smart Haptic Glove

Participants interacted with a bottle, cube and sphere under natural-touch and vibrotactile-glove conditions while eight-channel EEG was recorded. A model trained on natural touch and tested on glove trials achieved rounded cross-condition accuracies of 83%, 78% and 68% for the three objects. Some object-related EEG structure transferred across conditions, but the authors explicitly caution that this does not demonstrate physiological equivalence.
