Multilingual Higher Education76IMPACT SIGNAL
Evidence of global relevance

Thai and international university students’ multilingual experiences and critical language awareness

Five group discussions with 45 students of six nationalities in Bangkok English programmes found flexible multilingual practices. Suggestions that international students should learn Thai also reflected Thai-language hegemony that may constrain English as a lingua franca. Some participants showed critical awareness of non-Thai residents' experiences and monolingual policy. These qualitative interpretations do not estimate national prevalence.

GC content mismatch of transgene destabilizes RNA virus genomes

NanoLuc reporters synonymously engineered to different GC contents were inserted into SARS-CoV-2, Japanese encephalitis virus and hepatitis C virus. Mismatched transgenes were deleted or accumulated substitutions toward the viral genome composition in some viruses, while intermediate-GC JEV maintained variants more stably. GC matching is a recombinant-virus design factor, not patient or vaccine-effectiveness evidence.

From AF to AIF: The Feedback Paradigm Shift in EFL AI-Assisted Writing Pedagogy

This academic article contrasts automated writing-evaluation feedback with generative-AI feedback such as ChatGPT and proposes integrating AIF into process-based writing alongside teacher, peer and learner verification. It organises accuracy, dependence, bias, privacy and ethics across writing stages, but includes no learner trial and does not establish improved skill or safety.

Female Youth Football and Maturation83IMPACT SIGNAL

The Influence of Growth and Maturation on Physical Performance and Selection Bias in Academy Female Football Players

Among 56 female academy footballers, maturity offset correlated with 10 m, 30 m and change-of-direction times, but not countermovement jump, reactive strength or relative hip-abductor strength. Post-PHV players were faster than circa-PHV players, and birth-date plus maturation distributions were uneven. This suggests selection bias toward current physical maturity, not greater long-term talent.

Developing a Global Stock Market Terminology List for ESP Learners in Business English: A Corpus-Based Approach

A 10,894,720-token corpus from CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, Seeking Alpha, Bloomberg and Barron’s was analysed using keywords, lexical profiles, semantic tags, dictionaries and concordance lines. The resulting Global Stock Market Word List contains 486 technical, semi-technical and supportive items. It is a focused resource, but learning benefits remain untested.

Challenges and Contextual Dynamics in Implementing Smoke‐Free School Policies in Thailand: A Qualitative Study

Fourteen focus groups in 14 Thai provinces with 122 administrators, teachers and tobacco-control stakeholders found that smoke-free-school gaps stemmed less from absent law than from different authority structures, constrained resources, uneven enforcement, leadership turnover, digital e-cigarette diffusion and monitoring inequity. Teacher networks and provincial endorsement helped, but sustainability required institutional embedding.

Beyond disciplinary boundaries: epistemic infrastructure and cross-disciplinary environmental reasoning among pre-service teachers

A mixed-method study of 25 science- and social-studies pre-service teachers followed an eight-hour sustainable-energy Claim–Evidence–Reasoning intervention. Disciplinary differences persisted: social-studies participants scored higher overall and on claims, while 12 interviews revealed complementary strengths—systems, mechanisms and evidence in science; power, justice and citizenship in social studies. CER supported dialogue but was not compared with another pedagogy.

Knowledge hiding as a conditional response to job burnout: a conservation of resources perspective

A survey of 157 employees in Thailand’s digital-content industry linked burnout to more knowledge hiding and less work engagement, while knowledge hiding unexpectedly showed a positive association with engagement.

Building sustainable workplaces: The role of organizational climate and recognition on employee task performance in Vietnamese SMEsThis research aims to study the relationships between Organizational Climate and Task Performance through Organizational Recognition in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Da Nang, Vietnam. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to examine the direct and indirect (mediated) relationships among the independent variables, the mediator, and the dependent variable. The population of this study is individual employees in SMEs; 402 respondents were obtained through a convenience and volunteer sampling method. The empirical results demonstrated an excellent model fit. The path analysis revealed that all four dimensions of Organizational Climate had significant positive direct effects on Organizational Recognition (p < 0.001), and that Organizational Recognition was significantly associated with Task Performance. Bootstrap analysis with 5000 resamples and bias-corrected 95 % confidence intervals indicated that all four indirect effects through Organizational Recognition were statistically significant. Standard of Work was fully mediated by Organizational Recognition, whereas Organizational Structure, Responsibility, and Commitment were partially mediated, retaining significant direct associations with Task Performance. These results suggest that, in the SME context of Da Nang, Organizational Recognition is an important mechanism through which a supportive climate is associated with employee performance. The study provides insights for SME management seeking to strengthen recognition practices as part of a more humane and socially sustainable work environment.
