Consensus statements for the diagnosis of mild traumatic brain injury and clinical integration of blood-based biomarkers in the Asia-Pacific region: a modified Delphi study

Ten Asia-Pacific experts developed 11 consensus statements on mild traumatic brain injury and use of GFAP/UCH-L1 within 12 hours. Final agreement was 90-100%, emphasizing biomarkers as adjuncts while clinical assessment and locally available imaging remain central.

RGD-functionalized cannabidiol lipid nanoparticles improve brain delivery and alleviate cognitive and metabolic dysfunction via gut-brain axis modulation in an Alzheimer's disease model

RGD-functionalized cannabidiol lipid nanoparticles increased cellular uptake threefold and in-vitro BBB transport by 65%, while reducing inflammatory and oxidative markers. In a preclinical Alzheimer's model, cognition, Aβ/tau pathology, metabolism and gut-barrier indicators improved. The findings are promising but not evidence in patients.

Agreement of Electrolyte Measurements Between Arterial Blood Gas Analyzers and Central Laboratories in Critically Ill Patients with Acute Kidney Injury

Among 1,870 critically ill patients with acute kidney injury, sodium and potassium from arterial blood-gas analysers showed relatively good agreement with central laboratory values, with potassium having the narrowest limits. Clinically meaningful discrepancies occurred in 7.0% of sodium, 14.1% of potassium and 31.4% of chloride measurements, so rapid bedside results should support rather than replace reference testing.

Development and psychometric validation of the short-form thai version of the spine oncology study group outcomes questionnaire (TH-SOSGOQ-8D)

This multicentre secondary analysis used the validated 2018–2020 TH-SOSGOQ 2.0 database. The full cohort included 68 patients and the reliability/construct-validity cohort 64. Mean age was 57 years and 55.9% were women. Internal consistency was 0.832 and test-retest ICCs ranged from 0.52 to 0.85.

When “Candida ciferrii” Isn't Candida: Sequencing reveals multidrug-resistant Blastobotrys adeninivorans PD peritonitis

A peritoneal-dialysis peritonitis case involved Blastobotrys adeninivorans, initially called Candida ciferrii by VITEK-2 and MALDI-TOF. Persistent inflammation and culture positivity prompted multilocus sequencing. High MICs were observed across antifungal classes, but validated breakpoints do not exist. Resolution followed catheter removal and transition to haemodialysis.

Vector-borne pathogens in dogs from different regions of Afghanistan

Molecular screening of 100 outdoor-living owned and stray dogs from four Afghan provinces found 81% positive for at least one vector-borne pathogen, led by Hepatozoon canis (68%) and Bartonella vinsonii berkhoffii (18%). The study fills a major One Health evidence gap but is not a national prevalence estimate.

Assessment of future hydrology in the Gandaki River Basin under climate change using a multi-site calibration with the SWAT model

A bias-corrected CMIP6-SWAT assessment of Nepal's Gandaki Basin found that under an SSP5-8.5 warm-wet scenario, rainfall increased from 1,961 to 4,068 mm and surface runoff from 556 to 1,838 mm, while snowfall fell from 392 to 231 mm. These are scenario-model outputs, not certain forecasts.
