Molecular detection of chlamydiales in captive zoo animals at Songkhla Zoo, southern Thailand

A survey of 92 captive-animal samples at Songkhla Zoo detected Chlamydiales-related DNA in one asymptomatic giant Asian pond turtle (1.09%). The sequence matched AY845420.1 and diverged from recognized pathogenic species. This is preliminary molecular detection, not proof of viable infection, transmission, or human risk.

Efficacy and safety of a thermosensitive poloxamer-based hydrogel as an anti-adhesive agent in full-endoscopic spine surgery: a randomized controlled trial in Thailand

A single-center randomized trial in 71 patients compared thermosensitive poloxamer hydrogel with methylprednisolone after full-endoscopic lumbar discectomy. Extensive epidural fibrosis on MRI was less frequent, but leg pain, back pain, and disability did not differ through 12 months; the imaging benefit did not translate into patient-reported benefit.

A Two-Stage Modified PES Ultrafiltration System for Enhanced Treatment of High-Strength Seasoning Wastewater: Organic Removal and Process Optimization

A KMUTT team developed a two-stage modified polyethersulfone membrane process for organic removal, biofouling control, and partial ion separation in high-strength seasoning wastewater. It achieved 92.27% COD removal and 88% first-stage flux recovery, but long-term operation, cost, nanoparticle release, and full-scale performance were not established.

RGB-UAV-based phenotyping reveals the influence of planting density on physiological traits, biomass, and yield in buckwheat

A buckwheat experiment compared broadcast sowing with four drill spacings and RGB-UAV imagery at 30, 50, and 60 m. Vegetation indices correlated strongly with biomass and yield under selected conditions, but no index, altitude, or growth stage was universally optimal; 50 m was most stable in this experiment.

Comparison of Preoperative Nutritional Assessment Tools for Predicting Postoperative Pulmonary Complications in Older Adults Undergoing Cardiac Surgery

In a prospective cohort of 217 older adults undergoing elective cardiac surgery, 39.6% developed pulmonary complications. Among four tools, the Nutrition Alert Form had the highest AUC at only 0.643, and no tool remained independently associated after clinical adjustment. Nutritional screening should complement, not replace, perioperative risk assessment.

Impact of biofilm formation on mortality in Candida tropicalis candidaemia: A retrospective study of ICU and Non-ICU patients

A retrospective Thai referral-center study of 146 C. tropicalis candidemia episodes in 145 patients found high biofilm formation in 33.6% and 30-day mortality of 74.0%. Overall mortality did not differ by biofilm category; lower survival only in non-ICU patients is a subgroup finding requiring confirmation, not a stand-alone prognostic marker.

Characteristic flow of different right ventricular outflow tract morphology in repaired tetralogy of fallot patients studied by 4D-flow cardiac magnetic resonance images

A retrospective study of 120 repaired tetralogy-of-Fallot patients found similar conventional CMR, pulmonary regurgitation, and clinical outcomes across tubular and pyramidal RVOT shapes, while 4D-flow CMR detected local differences in velocity, wall shear stress, and energy loss. This shows imaging sensitivity, not yet prognostic or transcatheter-valve selection utility.

Eight-week high-intensity inspiratory muscle training improves cardiac autonomic function in COPD: a randomized controlled trial

A randomized trial in 39 stable COPD patients found that eight weeks of 30 inspiratory breaths twice daily at the highest tolerable intensity shifted heart-rate variability toward greater parasympathetic activity and improved six-minute walk distance and health scores versus control. The trial was small, lacked sham training, and did not measure long-term cardiac events or exacerbations.

Prevalence and prognostic impact of unrecognized myocardial infarction detected by cardiac magnetic resonance in Thai patients with obesity

Among 1,053 Thai patients with BMI at least 25 kg/m2 who underwent cardiac magnetic resonance, 9.9% had scars consistent with previously unrecognized myocardial infarction. This group had more major cardiovascular events over a median 9.2 years, but most participants were selected for CMR because coronary disease was suspected, so this is not population prevalence among people with obesity.

Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans NadN Contributes to Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Degradation

Cell-based experiments found that Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, a bacterium associated with periodontitis, can degrade neutrophil extracellular traps after capture and identified membrane-associated NadN as an important mediator. Expressing NadN in Lactococcus lactis conferred NET-degrading activity, but patient or animal evidence of disease impact is not yet available.

Measurement of Plasma Free Hemoglobin Using the Hemolysis Index of the Mindray BS-800

A Siriraj team validated the Mindray BS-800 hemolysis index for plasma free hemoglobin against the Harboe method, reporting high precision and correlation across the evaluated range and a 2 mg/dL detection limit. High bilirubin caused up to 15% negative bias, and analytical validation does not establish clinical-outcome benefit.

Phylogenomic structure and resistance profiles of clinical Proteus mirabilis from a Thai hospital

Whole-genome analysis of 17 clinical Proteus mirabilis isolates from hospitals in Narathiwat found genetic diversity and multiple resistance genes despite broad phenotypic susceptibility. qnrD1 appeared on similar Col3M-associated contigs in two isolates, suggesting possible mobile elements, but the small study did not demonstrate transmission.
