Pristaulacus iosephi Turrisi & Madl 2013

This treatment describes Pristaulacus iosephi from a female holotype collected in Fang, Chiang Mai, in 1958. The roughly 17-mm wasp is mostly black, has extensive brown wing infuscation, two tooth-like pronotal processes, an elevated overhanging mesonotum, a six-toothed tarsal claw and an ovipositor equal to forewing length. It is known from Chiang Mai and Yunnan, belongs to the P. comptipennis group, and has no known host.

Classifying the Likelihood of Failure in Preliminary Tree Assessment: A Species-Specific Meta-Decision Tree Protocol

Field observations from 1,193 trees representing four common campus species were scored with expert-weighted preliminary indicators. Species-specific decision trees were combined into a meta-classifier for unlikely, possible or likely failure. Overall accuracy was 79.03% with Cohen’s kappa 0.580. The model was more reliable at the unlikely and likely extremes and underdetected possible failures, so it is a prioritization aid rather than a replacement for advanced diagnostics.

Geographical Classification of Okra ( Abelmoschus esculentus ) by Chemometric Analysis of Polyphenolic Profiles Obtained from HPLC-DAD and LC-MS

An optimized, greener extraction recovered more total flavonoids than the conventional method. HPLC-DAD and LC-MS then profiled okra flavonoids, including quercetin and catechin derivatives. PCA explored variation and LDA classified country of origin, locations within Thailand and one-versus-all tasks, with reported classification and prediction accuracy of 80-100%. This is promising for geographical-indication support but needs independent, multi-season validation.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease Is Associated With an Increased Risk of End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Population‐Based Cohort Study

Linked Manitoba data from 1984-2023 compared 12,639 people with IBD with 126,180 matched controls. Dialysis occurred in 1.48% versus 0.82% and kidney transplantation in 0.25% versus 0.10%. IBD remained associated with ESRD (adjusted HR 1.53), with a stronger estimate for Crohn’s disease than ulcerative colitis. Diabetes, hypertension and heart failure remained major predictors; treatment and surgery associations may reflect disease severity rather than causal harm.

Genomic surveillance of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii from bloodstream infections in Thailand reveals widespread dissemination of blaNDM–harboring mobile genetic elements

Whole-genome surveillance of 41 carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii bloodstream isolates collected across Thailand in 2020-2024 found widespread international clone II (ST2). Resistance was dominated by blaOXA-23 with intrinsic blaOXA-66 and a penicillin-binding-protein mutation. A conserved blaNDM-5 mobile element appeared across ST2 sublineages and regions, consistent with horizontal spread followed by clonal expansion; blaNDM-1 was less frequent and linked to Tn125 in ST2 and ST16.

Tuning Metal–Acid Cooperativity of Beta Zeolite-Supported Pt Catalysts for Selective Hydrogenolysis of 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural to Methyl Levulinate

By tuning Si/Al ratio and Pt loading in beta-zeolite-supported catalysts, the study balanced Brønsted/Lewis acidity and metal-support interactions. The optimized 0.5Pt/BEA-12.5 used Lewis sites to activate carbonyl intermediates and moderated Brønsted acidity to promote esterification without excessive humin. It achieved over 99% HMF conversion and 92.0% methyl-levulinate yield at low Pt loading and also processed glucose, fructose and sucrose feedstocks.

Mixed Fermentation of Non-Saccharomyces Yeast and Lactic Acid Bacteria Enhances Aroma Complexity and Sensory Quality of Kyoho Wine

Sequential Hanseniaspora opuntiae plus Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation was combined with simultaneous or sequential malolactic fermentation using Lactoplantibacillus plantarum. The mixed yeast system increased total esters 4.21-fold over the S. cerevisiae control. Simultaneous MLF produced more ethyl lactate, diethyl succinate and diacetyl, reaching 267.38 mg/L total esters and the highest acceptance score, 7.63/9, associated with floral, blackberry and creamy notes.

Gut microbiome modulation by Veillonella ratti induces resistance to EAE pathogenesis via microbe-derived metabolites

In a mouse experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis model, infant-derived Veillonella ratti MHL0042 reshaped gut microbiota, reduced CD4+ IFN-gamma T cells and lowered activated spinal-cord microglia. The proposed mechanism involves depletion of pldA-containing bacteria and increased dioleoyl phosphatidylethanolamine (DOPE) in the gut, circulation and central nervous system. Exogenous DOPE reproduced attenuation of disease and microglial activation.

Processing-dependent reinforcing behavior of garlic peel and pineapple leaf fibers in poly(butylene succinate) all-biocomposites

Poly(butylene succinate) composites containing 10 or 20 wt% garlic-peel or pineapple-leaf fiber were milled and compression-molded at 120 or 150 C. Pineapple fiber retained a higher effective aspect ratio, but this did not translate proportionally into flexural improvement. Flexural behavior depended strongly on orientation and molding temperature, favoring longitudinal specimens and 120 C, while impact behavior followed different trends.

Antifungal susceptibility profiles of clinical and environmental Scedosporium and Lomentospora isolates from Taiwan: focus on olorofim activity and phylogenetic heterogeneity

CLSI M38-A3 testing covered 216 Taiwanese clinical and environmental isolates: 205 Scedosporium and 11 Lomentospora prolificans. L. prolificans was pan-resistant to tested agents except olorofim, while olorofim had MIC90 values at or below 0.12 mg/L across taxa. Most MIC variability, 72.5-89.2%, occurred within rather than between species, limiting species identity as a susceptibility proxy and supporting isolate-level testing.

Exploring the antioxidant and prebiotic potential of fermented Thai jasmine rice beverage: An in vitro study

Thai KDML 105 jasmine-rice amazake was compared with unfermented rice and Japanese amazake. Fermentation increased phenolic content over unfermented rice. DPPH inhibition was 70.34% for the Thai beverage versus 65.71% for Japanese amazake, while ABTS inhibition was lower (53.57% versus 95.42%). Lactobacillus plantarum grew well and exceeded the IMO reference, whereas E. coli growth did not differ. These are in vitro functional signals, not demonstrated human prebiotic benefits.

Graphene Quantum Dots as Nanoadditives in Cement Hydration: Mechanistic Insights into Pore Structure Refinement and Durability Enhancement

This experimental study evaluated liquid- and solid-form graphene quantum dots (GQDs) in concrete across 24–42 MPa strength classes. The 0.1% liquid-GQD formulation performed best, increasing compressive, splitting-tensile, and flexural strength while reducing water absorption and porosity. BET results suggest that GQDs modified pore-structure evolution rather than acting only as fillers.
