WHO estimates of the global, regional, and national burden of 42 foodborne infectious and chemical hazards, 2000-21: an updated data synthesis
The WHO's updated data synthesis assessed the burden of 42 foodborne pathogens and chemicals, covering 194 countries, and involved researchers from Khon Kaen University on an international panel.
Giant freshwater prawns received control diets or 10% and 20% fishmeal replacement with L. plantarum TISTR1284-fermented Leucaena for two weeks. Fermented diets increased immune markers and reduced post-A. hydrophila mortality by 26.14%, with normal intestinal morphology.
The systematic review identified 17 reports representing 15 randomised trials with 6,256 participants; 2,216 contributed to overweight subgroup analyses. The meta-analysis included 12 studies and 1,728 pregnant women with overweight. Interventions combined diet and physical activity, often with goal setting, self-monitoring and digital or remote follow-up.
A seven-country prospective cohort of 1,703 adults with HIV found Mycobacterium tuberculosis bloodstream infection predominantly among inpatients and associated it with higher 30-day mortality.
An evaluation of 1,838 stored sera from seven countries found that a second-generation Hcp1 antibody test had sensitivity ranging from 48% to 92%, with specificity varying by country and comparison group.

Analysis of Thai national claims from 2015–2023 identified 60,916 paediatric hepatobiliary admissions. Admission rates were broadly stable and in-hospital mortality declined, while hepatic failure remained a high-risk condition.
An international expert statement spanning 22 countries reviews links among food systems, cardiometabolic health and the Sustainable Development Goals. It advocates plant-forward traditional diets rich in whole grains, legumes, vegetables, fruit, nuts and spices, with meat used sparingly.
The multicentre survey analysed 604 patients from 25 Thai hospitals between December 2023 and March 2024. SSRIs accounted for 70.2% of prescriptions, followed by TCAs at 13.9% and trazodone at 12.7%. The most common diagnoses were depressive disorders (55.0%), substance use disorders (15.2%) and psychotic disorders (13.7%). Clinicians cited limited availability (21.9%), reimbursement arrangements (36.3%) and patient finances (33.9%) as prescribing constraints.
A post hoc analysis of the DEN-301 placebo arm followed 30,620.6 person-years, identifying 560 virologically confirmed dengue cases among 9,698 febrile illnesses; 142 cases, or 25.4%, were hospitalized.
A 20-year-old man on automated peritoneal dialysis developed vague abdominal symptoms, weight loss and declining ultrafiltration. Repeated dialysate cultures, acid-fast staining and molecular tests were negative despite mononuclear-predominant leukocytosis. Contrast CT identified peritoneal nodules, CT peritoneography showed a trapped dialysate pocket, and targeted biopsy demonstrated necrotising granulomatous inflammation. Tissue culture grew M. kansasii resistant to rifampicin, moxifloxacin and ciprofloxacin.
HITAP reviewed 278 HTA capacity-strengthening activities in 25 countries from 2010 to mid-2025. Asia accounted for 151 activities and 128 engagements were programmatic rather than ad hoc. Knowledge sharing represented 26% and research or project collaboration 21%. Among 11 African partner countries, only three had programmatic engagement, accounting for 30 activities.
Morphology combined with ITS, LSU, rpb2 and β-tub phylogenies distinguished Nigropunctata pseudohydei as a new species and confirmed the first Thai record of N. complanata.

An eight-country perspective argues that telemedicine, wearables and home sensors, augmented AI and mobile health can distribute expertise, observe symptoms between visits and support self-management, particularly where neurologists are scarce. Impact depends on infrastructure, interoperability, workforce, governance and equity-first hybrid care, not devices alone.
