Enhanced bioelectricity recovery and melanoidin degradation in CO2- capturing microbial fuel cells via biochar-immobilized whole-cell biocatalysts

A laboratory system combined empty-fruit-bunch biochar, laccase-producing microbes, a microbial fuel cell and microalgae. It reported 73.15% melanoidin removal, maximum open-circuit voltage of 619.17 mV and carbon fixation of 0.13 g/L/day, without inhibiting rice-seed germination. The integrated concept is promising but not yet validated in full-scale real wastewater.

Model predictive control of a transformerless CSI7 photovoltaic system for leakage current and THD reduction

A Thai team developed hardware-specific finite-control-set model predictive control for a transformerless CSI7 photovoltaic inverter. It combines dynamic DC-current tracking, overlap-time commutation and direct penalisation of common-mode-voltage variation. Hardware-in-the-loop and physical tests report lower THD and leakage current than conventional controls, although the abstract provides no effect sizes or long-duration evidence.

Slurry erosion of polychloroprene rubber: mechanisms, impact dynamics and comparison with wear models

Controlled slurry-jet tests found a dual-peak erosion response in polychloroprene rubber: a maximum at 15-20 degrees from cutting and ploughing and a secondary peak at 90 degrees from deformation and cracking. A 20 mm stand-off balanced particle energy and delivery, while higher velocity, particle size and sand concentration all increased erosion.

Three-dimensional seismic response analysis of connected structures with damping layers

ABAQUS simulations compared a conventional connected high-rise structure with single- and double-sided damping layers using lead-rubber bearings. Both damping layouts improved horizontal energy dissipation, with the double-sided system performing better, but vertical-earthquake control remained weak. The evidence is computational, not full-scale building validation.

The sRNA vvrr1 Modulates the VarS/VarA‐Csr System via LeuO to Regulate Biofilm Formation and Virulence in Vibrio alginolyticus

This mechanistic study proposes that the small RNA vvrr1 post-transcriptionally represses LeuO, linking the VarS/VarA-Csr cascade to LuxO, exopolysaccharide production, biofilm architecture and virulence in Vibrio alginolyticus. Genetics, sequencing and molecular simulation support the circuit, but it is not yet an intervention trial in aquaculture.

Effect of gonadotropin supplementation on oocyte maturation and mean oocyte diameter in rescue IVM: a prospective sibling-oocyte study

A prospective sibling-oocyte study in 29 patients compared 104 immature oocytes. Adding FSH and LH increased nuclear maturation from 30.77% to 51.92%, adjusted OR 3.28, but did not shift mean oocyte diameter toward the range associated with good-quality blastocysts. Fertilisation, pregnancy and live-birth benefit remain unproven.

Comparative transcriptomic analysis reveals chloroplast- and translation-centered salt-adaptation difference between two rice genotypes

Seedling transcriptomes of salt-tolerant Pokkali and salt-sensitive 9311 revealed different strategies. Pokkali maintained growth and limited oxidative damage through chloroplast-centred and redox networks, whereas 9311 emphasised translation while suppressing chloroplast biogenesis. The study identifies breeding targets but does not establish field yield under salinity.

Effects of Substituting Commercial Concentrate with Chaya Forage Meal on Feed Efficiency and Weight Gain of Growing Goats Fed Fresh Leucaena-Based Diets

A ten-week Indonesian trial in 20 growing female Etawa-cross goats found that a diet containing 50% fresh leucaena, 40% concentrate and 10% chaya forage meal produced the best weight gain and feed efficiency among four diets. It supports local-feed substitution, but the small study does not establish equivalent performance in Thai production systems.

Comparative Effects of Solvent Polarity on Phenolic and Flavonoid Contents, Antioxidant Activity, and Cytotoxicity of Litsea elliptica Leaf Extracts

This in-vitro study compared water, ethanol and methanol extracts of Litsea elliptica leaves. Ethanol produced the highest total phenolic and flavonoid contents and the strongest antioxidant activity, whereas the aqueous extract showed the highest selectivity toward HCT116 colorectal cancer cells. The results guide solvent selection but do not demonstrate anticancer treatment efficacy in humans.

Electrical detection of cisplatin-DNA adduct formation using dielectrophoresis-based impedance spectroscopy

This proof-of-concept electrical method detected cisplatin-DNA adduct formation on DNA-labelled microbeads. Quantification was demonstrated over 0.05-0.5 mM with a 0.05 mM detection limit. It avoids complex electrode modification, but its present sensitivity is insufficient for biological or clinical use.

Holmium:yttrium–aluminum–garnet laser–assisted retrieval of an embedded fully covered self-expandable metallic stent for benign biliary strictures

A 48-year-old man had a fully covered metal stent embedded in the bile-duct wall after liver surgery, preventing conventional removal. Cholangioscopy-guided Ho:YAG laser ablation exposed and fragmented the stent, enabling complete retrieval over three sessions without reported procedure-related adverse events. It is a promising salvage technique supported by only one case.

Effects of ensiled Brachiaria decumbens on saponin reduction, nutrient digestibility, growth performance, body morphometrics, carcass traits, and meat quality in sheep

A 98-day trial in 18 male Dorper-cross sheep found that ensiled Brachiaria decumbens improved protein and fibre digestibility, growth and most carcass measures versus fresh Napier grass or fresh B. decumbens, despite lower dry-matter intake, with no detected change in meat quality. Only six animals were studied per group.
