The Interplay between Medication Adherence and Health-Related Quality of Life in Hypertensive Elderly People in Rangpur Region of Bangladesh

A cross-sectional study of 156 older adults with hypertension in Rangpur, Bangladesh found that high self-reported medication adherence was associated with a higher EQ-5D index after adjustment, with a reported difference of 0.201 points. Because exposure and outcome were assessed at the same period, the study cannot distinguish whether adherence improved quality of life or whether healthier and better-resourced people were more able to adhere.

The homeless portraits project: Art as a tool for social healing and transformation

This practice-based study follows an artist who painted people experiencing homelessness in San Francisco and New York, gave portraits to the sitters and invited public participation through social media over six years. The project reached a museum exhibition and reportedly led to job offers for a few participants. Its clearest contribution is public visibility and affirmation of dignity; employment or wellbeing effects were not systematically evaluated.

The role of digital inclusive finance in alleviating multidimensional relative poverty in rural areas

Using Chinese household panel data from 2010–2022 and two-way fixed effects, the study finds that digital inclusive finance is associated with lower multidimensional relative poverty. The proposed channels are household green innovation and green credit. Effects were stronger among households with lower digital skills, yet poverty was reported to worsen in central China, showing that a uniform policy may have uneven consequences.

Sign in Communicating Reflections of Chinese Society through Performance Art by Zhang Huan

A qualitative reading of 12 major Zhang Huan works from 1993–2005 argues that his early performances used the body, filth, blood and physical extremity to challenge Chinese social regulation and artistic convention. After moving abroad, the work increasingly examined Chinese identity under a Western gaze. These are semiotic interpretations of documents and images, not empirical proof of the artist's intentions or audience effects.

Editorial: Sustainability management of cities through circular economy and community development: a global perspective

This editorial synthesises nine contributions on circular economy and community development, arguing that transition operates across households, organisations, infrastructure and governance. Examples include optimised rural home care, smart-city tools, B-Corps, biochar and a review of Indonesian circularity research. It is thematic synthesis, not a new experiment or systematic review.

Managed Judicial Discretion: An Institutional Framework for Addressing Legal Uncertainty

This conceptual legal article proposes “managed judicial discretion” to reconcile judicial flexibility with legal certainty through guidelines, consistent precedent, transparent reasoning and oversight. The framework organises an important debate but is not empirical evidence that these measures reduce inconsistency or improve fairness in real courts.

Cultivating Purchase Intentions in the Era of e-Mass Customization: The Interplay of Unique Lifestyle Desires and Perceived Risks

A survey of 220 Malaysian online shoppers, based on the Theory of Reasoned Action, linked desire for a distinctive lifestyle with more favourable attitudes and social norms toward e-mass customisation, while perceived risk was negative. Attitude and social influence predicted intention, but the cross-sectional data do not establish actual purchasing or causality.

Capabilities in context: entrepreneurial learning in weak institutional contexts

Interviews with 44 Ghanaian SME entrepreneurs identified four learning phases: diagnosing constraints, raising venture standards, cultivating diverse ties and using network learning to access resources and capabilities. The study offers a process explanation under weak institutions, but does not measure sales or survival effects, and fieldwork dates to 2016–2017.

Malaria serology for surveillance, insights into immunity, and vaccine development

This mini-review synthesises two uses of malaria serology: antibodies as markers of prior exposure for surveillance in low-incidence settings, and naturally acquired immunity as a route to vaccine targets. It emphasises neglected Plasmodium vivax and the need to understand antibody longevity. The paper is not a new diagnostic or vaccine evaluation.

Effects of Incorporating Self-Regulated Learning into English Writing Instruction on Thai Students’ Self-Regulated Writing Practices and Perceptions

Forty-eight first-year English majors completed a 12-week writing course incorporating self-regulated learning. Perceived self-regulated-writing ability rose from 4.57 to 5.33, and students reported more goal setting, planning, self-efficacy and discipline. With one intact group, no control and mostly self-report outcomes, the change cannot be attributed solely to the intervention.

The Investigation of the Lexis of Thought: A Corpus-Based Study of Cognitive Nouns “Idea,” “Thought,” and “Notion” in American English

Analysis of the Corpus of Contemporary American English found thought most frequent overall, idea prominent in blogs and TV/movie subtitles, and notion strongly associated with academic writing. Top verb and adjective collocates revealed overlap but also proposal-oriented idea, temporal or clarity-related thought, and accepted or distributive notion. The pedagogical message is to teach genre and collocation rather than one-word equivalence.

Correlation between perioperative surgical factors and implant-related complications in the basicervical fractures of femoral neck treated with proximal femoral nail antirotation: a retrospective review study in 149 elderly patients

A retrospective review of 149 older adults with basicervical femoral-neck fractures treated using proximal femoral nail antirotation found mechanical complications in 17 patients (11.4%) and reoperation in 11 (7.4%). BMI, ASA grade 4, lateral angulation and anteromedial cortical support remained associated in multivariable analysis. These are risk markers, not proof that changing one factor prevents failure.
